MAI — Venue Power (Step 2 of 6)

One-line pitch: MAI is how much of a specific venue's token you hold. It's your "local reputation" at that QING.

What this is

MAI is step 2 of the power chain:

QI → MAI → XIA → XIE → ZI → PANG

Where QI was your general energy, MAI is your venue-specific power. It's essentially how many of that venue's tokens you're holding — translated through a bit of math into a stat.

MAI also drives chat rewards. When you chat in a QING you hold tokens for, you earn up to 1 of that venue's token per message. That's MAI at work.

If you've played a web3 game before

  • Closest analogy: reputation score per subreddit / per Discord server — your standing is local, not global.
  • Or: LP position size — how much of this particular pool you're in.
  • Or: a per-boss XP bonus in an MMO where grinding a specific enemy type earns you a damage multiplier against it.
Dysnomia term What it maps to
MAI Venue-specific power = f(your tokens of that venue)
Chat MAI reward Up to 1 of the venue's token per Chat message
Fomalhaute SHIO channel name used when computing MAI

What you actually do with it

  • Hold venue tokens — more QING tokens held = higher MAI at that QING.
  • Chat — earn MAI rewards (1 token max per message) if you hold tokens there.
  • Check your MAI — read the contract for a given Soul + QING pair.

Rewards / costs

  • Cost: no direct cost — your MAI is derived.
  • Reward: chat earnings. Up to 1 venue-token per message, capped.

Requirements & gating

  • You need to hold some of the venue's token to have non-zero MAI.
  • Chat rewards only fire at venues where you're already admitted and speaking.

Where it connects

MAI builds on QI (step 1) and feeds into XIA (step 3). It's read by QING at chat time to decide your payout.

Quick FAQ

Q: Why is the chat reward capped at 1 token? A: To prevent rich whales from dominating chat economies. Even if you hold 10 million tokens, each message earns you at most 1. Encourages many chats over few whales.

Q: Does MAI work for GWATs too? A: Yes — GWATs are QINGs, same math applies.

Q: How does holding affect MAI exactly? A: There's a weighting formula involving Fomalhaute SHIO data. Approximately linear in small holdings, with curvature for large ones.

Q: What if I don't hold any of a venue's token? A: Your MAI there is effectively zero. You can still chat (with appropriate gating), but won't earn MAI rewards.
